08 February 2003 - Day 3

I just realised at this point I've not mentioned the fact that the "Days" are not contiguous in this diary. I may miss a day or 4 every now and again; the days are whenever I return to work on the image. As with 90% of the artwork you see on this site, this is just something I'm doing in my spare time and as such I have all the luxury of taking as long as it takes. This is also the reason most of the work on the site is "fantasy" based -I'm working on a scifi project at Team17 at the moment so all my futuristic stuff gets used there..

Well, it's Saturday today and although I'd love to start working on the dragon itself I have a few other things to get out of the way first.. One of them being the pages of the diary. I realised yesterday that I ought to break up the diary into multiple pages as it's going to get pretty image-heavy as things go on. It's taken a few hours to get the layout right, but at least it should be cleaner and easier to read the whole thing later. It takes a lot longer than a lot of people realise to set up a web page properly!

As for the dragon; it's still at the concept sketch stage:

It's still tempting to start painting in form and musculature, but I want to model and light it correctly. I've set aside a few hours tomorrow.. I rarely sit down to point or model unless I know I've got at least a few hours clear ahead of me. Nothing worse than being pulled away just when I'm in the flow.
