Dark Wallpaper

A dark leather tiling wallpaper :) I Like darker backgrounds, mainly because I find it less distracting on a second monitor while I'm working. That's also why this wallpaper is designed as a tiling wallpaper; it takes up less memory and can be used on any sizes of monitor regardless of resolution (my monitors are different sizes and proportions) ;)

LiteLeather Wallpaper

And a light version of the same, for those that like lighter backgrounds :)

Antiquated

Anything below this section is pretty damned antique now!

Basically, I take no responsibility for incompatibilities ;)

MAXScripts

VertexPlacer 3 macroscript for 3DS max (r4.2 and up)

VertexPlacer 3 is now also a vertex Quantiser (similar to Lightwave Modellers "Quantise"). It allows you to place a selection of vertices at a specific place on a plane, snap to the nearest given spacing, or snap to the nearest grid point. Vertexplacer works on the vertices of Meshes, Polygons and splines.

Vertexplacer 3 is based on Vertexplacer 2 by Neil Blevins and requires Bslib.ms. It's now a Macroscript so just install it into your UI/Macroscripts folder and you can then assign it to a hotkey, button or quad. it can be found in the "Vertex Tools" category.

Neil Blevins Homepage: click here -is well worth a visit for inspiration and a generous amount of very useful scripts.

SmoothClone v1.2 macroscript for 3DS max (tested on R5.1)

SmoothClone 1.2

Installation:

Smoothclone is a macroscript - copy the script to the ui/macroscripts folder in Max. You can now find the script in the [Customise User Interface] menu under the vertex tools category. Just add the script to a keyboard shortcut/menu/whatever.

Usage:

The script automates the setup of the workflow I usually use for modelling organic shapes in polygons. A realtime smooth preview in the right panel while the low res "cage" can be edited in the left. Select a low polygon base object and run the script. While it remembers the layout you were using it splits the screen into a 2-pane side by side view and references the original object into focus in the right view. The level of smoothness is configurable (up to 3; I don't want to be responsible for machine lockups!) and changeable on the fly. The objects are also temporarily renamed, but as with the layout; they're restored when the [clear reference] button is pressed.

Notes:

Any process that involves collapsing the modifier stack will negate the effect (!) This is not a bug, but integral to the way the script works. If you wish to make changes which collapse the stack (such as convert to Polygon/Mesh) it's fine, but you will have press "Clear Reference" and then Smooth clone your object again.

Although I work solely with Polygon objects, it does appear to work fine with Meshes etc..

3D Objects

LoClaw This is a 3DSMax object done as part of the Red Dragon. This file is meant as a technique reference for building similar objects.

Note: This is a very low res version of the scene and has no skeleton joints - to see a higher res version simply apply a Meshsmooth modifier.
